greetings from Barcelona January 30, 2007

First off. DAMN lol I’ve been spoiled by uber-nice hostels like Oasis in Granada and Sevilla that I somehow, in my head figured that this 8 euro/night hostel was going to be semi-fine….let’s just say this. I paid 8 euros per night and it LOOKS like I paid 8 euros per night.

I’m here until the 3rd of February and from here I go to London where I’ll stay in HACKNEY(holla!) until the 7th and then I’m off to Turkey for 7 days. I know I should be ecstatic and all but quite frankly, I feel like I want to die because of overwhelming amount of luggage I have to carry around with me….I opted against shipping it off since it costs way too much to send them off…

damn this room is so cold and hey Gaelle, remember the old apartment? well think of it this way. Showers in the same room with the 10 bunkbeds! lovely. goodnight. I’ll post my 4000 Spain pics when I feel some warmth.

Alright, finally, Salamanca January 11, 2007

I’ve been here for about 2 weeks already and it feels like it’s been forever.

I’ve picked up the Castillan accent (or as we call it, “el acento de los conquistadores”) and it’s hell a lot of spitting.

For those who aren’t familiar with Castillan Spanish all the “z” and “d ” between vowels and “c” in front of “i” and “e” are pronounced as “th” sound in “thin” so Barcelona is pronounced “Bar-THEL-ona”

Hola January 6, 2007

I’ve been in Spain for a week now and it’s quite surreal here.

I burned off my charger and only learned how to charge my computer a few hours ago so basically at the moment I’m sitting at a random park, typing away like there’s no tomorrow.

People have been insanely rude but I was told that it’s how they treat everyone, and quite honestly, it’s not what I had hoped for.

whatever.

I’ll update in a few hours with pictures from the past week…quite a lot even though I haven’t started to take pictures of the streets yet.

oh and I got a phone in Spain which don’t cost me a thing to receive calls… 011 34(spain country code) 638 357 358

I’m probably going to Lisboa/Portugal 2 weekends from now…or Morocco…we’ll see.

I miss my Philly folks.

I’m so so grateful for all you’ve done for me.

I’ve had an amazing year, which coincidentally was my busiest year yet.

I’m leaving in a few hours and since I’d been to the land of no wifi for the past few days I haven’t been able to update my flickr. fear not, as posts will come when I arrive in Spain.

I love you so much(let’s pretend that we forgot the fact that I don’t love anyone for the moment ) thank you, and I’ll see you somewhere along the way.
