Finally a gig!!! arghghghghghgh!!!! my main kiwi boys were back in town again!!
I haven’t been to a gig since late 2006 (when I started travelling/living abroad) so I was pretty much excited, anxious and kind of nervous for last night’s show.
The opening bands The London Souls and The Parlor Mob looked like they stepped out of the 60’s(um, great hair ya’ll) and were a lot of fun. haha I must mention that I was pretty much deprived of tall good looking guys to ogle at while I was living in Tokyo(at roughly 5′ 9″ I was taller than most guys) so last night I was acting like a dog with an ADD, trying to take in prettiness as much as I could haha.
The Datsuns played, and gosh, they are just…really, really mesmerizing. I mean I have known that they are skilled musicians but last night, I was particularly mesmerized by Christian on guitar(probably because I’m in the process of accepting my inability to play the instrument) so many times I caught myself standing there in the front with my mouth open. It was my 5th time seeing them(in a 5 year-period! ugh) and they didn’t disappoint!! well they never do. I remember seeing them at the SxSW 2006 and grinning at the first-timers them getting so impressed. god I sound like a proud mother. For the encore, Dion from The D4 joined them onstage(funny how earlier in the day I thought to myself that The Datsuns are my favorite NZ band. Which led me to ask myself, “well what OTHER NZ band do you know/like?” “The D4? that’s it.”) and it felt like 2003 again haha.
I’m seeing The Datsuns again in Buenos Aires on the 8th! woo~ too bad I’m missing BRMC at the same venue on the 4th though.
Note to self: don’t wear brand new 4 inch stilettos to a gig(esp. if I haven’t worn heels for over a year) where I’ll be “dancing” like a monkey. ugh.
I’m no longer 17. I’m not as crazy or as fun as I use to be. meh…
oh, I only to a few pictures last night because…..well I don’t know, I wanted to enjoy the gig in full effect? lighting was pretty crap too.
my travel books(necessary for posts) are in philly where I don’t have any internet access. ehhhhhhh…
