Quick Update November 28, 2008

1. I’m not dead (yet)

2. Happy Thanksgiving to my States folks

3. I’m not dead

4. I had to take the DELE exam(Spanish equivalent of TOEFL I suppose) last Saturday so I was basically working ungodly hours, hallucinating due to immense fatigue(and sleeping some ridiculous hours like 7 hours total for 3 days)attending preparation classes everyday and trying to squeeze in as much studying time as possible.

5. Still working ungodly amount of hours and still insanely busy(going to different exhibitions, shopping for painting materials, getting ready for my radio show) but besides my “jobs” other things are for my own pleasure so it’s pretty encouraging. Please remember, my first radio show (info here) is this upcoming Friday.

**Radio show** I might change it to 2 hours instead of 4 but regardless, it will start at 12 pm local time here in Santiago. As far as podcasts are concerned, I am waiting for the station’s reply to see if I can just record the show and post here on my own (without the station promos or weather-breaks the on air show will have) Again, the first show is this Friday Dec 5th!

6. besides painting, gallery-hopping, and “jocking,” I am also going to start taking Flamenco lessons starting Monday, trying to make best of my stay here(only 3 months to go! woohoo!) oh and hitting the road for a few days-next up: Mendoza! 6th-8th.

Past glories November 12, 2008

I miss my friends

I miss my past

I miss my old main boys

I miss my old main girls

I miss crawling in pain as the result of too tight/high heels after a sweaty gig

I miss dancing barefeet on dirty venue floors

I miss delusional nights of getting lost in strange neighborhoods

I miss singing along to nonsensical yet oddly sensitive anti-folk songs(not to be confused with African-ny)

I miss witnessing dorky behaviors of the main boys and girls

I miss being genuinely in love with bands’ music and not caring about the band themselves

I miss thinking im never going to turn 21

I miss bands sneaking my underaged-self into bar venues

I miss never getting embarrassed

I miss getting hit on by the band on stage

I miss chatting enthusiastically about the awesome gigs

I miss writing about my delirious adventures

I miss crying in my room alone and being comforted by the music

I miss having faith in music

I miss having faith in myself

I miss Mori’s snarky socially unacceptable comments

I miss her dancing

I miss my stupid auto 35mm camera that took gorgeous pictures

I miss 18 year old me

I miss pre-NY me

I miss J.Andre

I miss dreaming about better tomorrow

I know I might be being a bit presumptuous but I can do math (220 + 55(CA) =275)

so unless CA decides to become Republican state this year,

YEA!

YEA!

YEAAAAAAAAAA!

Little update: the “Favorite At The Moment” has been changed to “Riffraph Rapture,” after intense 5 mins of brainstorming. It will feature my favorite things at the moment such as art, music, literature, fashion, lifestyle, place and all other kind of rubbish in general :]

I hope everyone had fun Halloween.

I was suprised to see kids go trick-or-treating here in Santiago Chile. I thought it was more of a club/young adult culture here but I saw families walk around with kids in costumes going door to door. Cute.

Random fact: I never went trick-or-treating in my life mostly because I grew up abroad for the first 12 years and once moved back to the states, it was denounced as “satanic” (therefore banned from the household) by my uber-religious aunt (haha). Best Halloween so far has been 2006 Halloween.

I usually adore Heidi Klum’s Halloween costumes because she does it so over-the-top instead of going down the the cliche road that most girls tend to take. (i.e. sexy insert a profession, flapper)

some of her past costumes from her annual Halloween bash

This year was no exception and is my favorite so far! She dressed up as Kali, the goddess of destruction and death and I love it!

I adore pretty much all the hindu gods in Tanjore paintings but everyone knows that my favorite Hindu/Buddisht god is Kinnara :D

Beck’s new video for the song “Gamma Ray” features Chloe Sevigny covered in clown makeup and tattoos, shimming with a rather indifferent expression(and occassional fantastic sneering) on her face.

Colors! Stripes! Polkadots! It’s so kitschy! I love it!
Beck – Gamma Ray

random encounter: I saw(I think) Chloe Sevigny on either m101 or m103 once heading downtown. Although girl had an unmistakable nose (haha) but I’m doubtful at the same time because…why would Chloe Sevigny take public transportation?

p.s. aren’t her legs amazing?

The second video I’ve been loving for a while is Beyonce’s Single Ladies

The stunning b/w video features amazing lighting and zoom-ins (not to mention the fabulous dancing trio) and is very retro and futuristic at the same time.

p.s. aren’t their legs amazing?
