Listen to my Radio show December 3, 2008

starting December 5th I am going to my host my own show on Santiago Radio,

12 – 2 pm(GMT-3:00)local Santiago time,

which means 10 a.m. – 12 pm EST(GMT-5:00) and 7 am – 9 am PST(GMT-8:00)

It will be broadcasted live and also will be available as podcasts-here the following day or a few days afterwards.

It’s called “Riffraph Rapture” and my DJ name(station ordered) will be well, riffraph.

Objective: To introduce and reminisce about past and future cultural happenings, be it music, art, fashion etc.

Tunes: The kind of music that I love, of course! (sans Classical, Flamenco music, and Chansons though…most of the time, that is) it will be mostly indie/underground/garage rock + some classic rock tracks that I love. I will try to stick to tracks that are not played on air as often(think more B-sides than the singles, think more “My Death” than “Jean Genie”) but I’ll mix it in. Also to be included are some non-English music, mostly dance music/rock music in Spanish, Korean and Japanese.

I am starting to find more amazing garage rock from South America so I will not only introduce some “well-known” indie music(for the NY/UK standard) to the Santiago listeners but also introduce the best kept secrets of Latin America to the listeners all around the world!

I think the station will set up a program to receive requests to play live but I think it will be better to send me music(that you think I might like) via email or mail.

1. Cultural happenings in Santiago and around the world. I will be talking about inspirational exhibitions/events/places of the week(in Santiago mostly)

2. About amazing films I’ve seen.

Basically think this blog, working fully as how I had envisioned it haha. Basically, being on air makes it more official hence forcing me to actually do my job.

3. Possible Interviews with artists??

Nowadays, more international acts are coming by so who knows, I’ll get to interview some of my favorite bands if they ever decide to drop by Chile. I’m hoping I can  ”discover” some amazing local bands and hopefully conduct an interview in English to introduce them to a new audience.

I will probably do only a handful before I leave Santiago at the end of Feb, (probably only 2 shows in December) but who knows, if it turns out successful I will continue in podcasts while I´m ON THE ROAD!
